New ideas represent the unknown, less travelled, unorthodox, feared and less safe way.
It's much easier to accept the status quo and save ones good name and reputation.
One road is life and one road is death...choose.

New ideas represent change:That can be a tough one for anyone, hence the opposition. The embracement comes following submission, obedience and finally revelation.

For Christians new ideas must be evaluated by the Word and prayerful discernment BEFORE responding with a personal opinion. For non-believers responses are usually emotional. The Bible tells us clearly to hear a matter before responding. Truth will ultimately stand the test of time and controversy from both camps. Our image as Christians would be improved by patient, prayerful evaluation and examination of facts in light of Scripture.

Sometimes our existing old ideas were once the new ideas that were never filtered through the Word of God.
So the new idea being presented today could actually be the old idea that was replaced back when our current old idea was a new idea.
Yes, filter everything through the Word of God ... even our old ideas.
